OVFC Responds To Twin Blizzards of 2010

12 February 2010 - The Odenton Volunteers "upstaffed" in response to the State of Emergency due to the back-to-back blizzards in early February 2010. An impressive total of 2600 duty hours were performed by 49 members during the eight day period of February 5-12. Six members put in more than 100 hours each. The County Fire Department added two to four additional around-the-clock career personnel to most fire stations except Odenton (Station 28).

29-13 Dwelling Fire and Partial Roof Collapse

10 February 2010 - Members of Company 28 had a busy morning on February 10 fighting the weather, trying to navigate the hazardous road conditions, and dealing with several medical calls in one of the most significant snowstorms in history. Crews were recovering from an earlier medical call when the tones were sounded for a dwelling fire in 29's first due area. Engines 282 and 283, Truck 28 and Utility 28 responded on the call with a total of 17 personnel.

Station 28 Saves a Cardiac Arrest Patient

7 February 2010 - One of the most significant calls during the blizzard period was saving a cardiac arrest patient in the Waugh Chapel area. Fire Department activity in the county was extremely high. At the time the 911 call was placed, Waugh Chapel units were committed to other incidents. Odenton's Engine 282 and Ambulance 289 were dispatched as the next closest units to a report of a man with trouble breathing.

Station 28 Saves a Cardiac Arrest Patient

New Board Installed and Member Recognized

12 January 2010 - The Odenton Volunteer Fire Company held its annual Installation of Officers ceremony at the January monthly company meeting. This ceremony is held to install the newly elected Board of Directors for 2010 for the Company and the Ladies Auxiliary.

In addition to these installations, FF/EMT Heather Robey was presented the VFW EMT of the Year Award.

Annapolis Road Rescue

11 January 2010 - At approximately 1700 hours, while Engine 281 and other First Battalion units were occupied on another incident, Truck 28 was alerted for the motor vehicle collision with entrapment on the 1000-block of Annapolis Road. Chief 28 responded with the Truck for a total of 4 volunteers.

Truck 28 arrived on scene to find a multi-vehicle collision with one vehicle overturned off the roadway with one victim trapped.
