On October 12th, Cece Goodwin and Joan Athen, representatives of the Cedar Ridge community, a subdivision of Piney Orchard, presented a check for $13,164 to Craig Harman, President of the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company (OVFC). This represented the proceeds from a community-wide fundraiser held on September 18, 2021, which included donations from some local community businesses, receipts from hot dog lunch, raffle ticket sales, and monetary contributions from Cedar Ridge residents.
This was the 4th year that volunteers from Cedar Ridge, an active 55+ senior community, rallied to support the local fire company. In the past 3 events, the community had donated a total of just over $35,000. With the proceeds from the 2021 event, OVFC has received over $48,000 from Cedar Ridge’s efforts. As in the past, the fire company will use the donation to support personnel training and purchase equipment.
