Chuck Tucker

Fire Chief

Chief Tucker has been a member of the OVFC since 2007 as and has served the company as a Probationary Firefighter, Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Lieutenant, Captain, and Assistant Chief, as well as on the Board of Directors as Membership Secretary. He is nationally certified at the Fire Officer III and Fire Instructor III levels. Chief Tucker is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with a minor in Slavic Languages, and a Master of Science Degree in Emergency Management.

In his full-time job, Chief Tucker has served the United States Army for more than 38 years, with a total of 20 years on active duty as a Soldier in specialized intelligence units and an additional 18 years as a civilian employee on Fort Meade. He is a veteran of the Cold War, Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, and multiple additional Global War on Terror deployments.

Chief Tucker is a native of Fowler, California who has resided in Maryland for 21 years. Chuck lives in Severn with his wife Susan and their Saint Bernard, Hank.

Chief Tucker’s primary responsibility will be leading the operational activities of the OVFC, comprised of approximately 90 Anne Arundel County qualified volunteer Firefighters and EMT responders, and the development of 40 additional operational members as they complete the training required to become qualified first responders in support of the OVFC mission of providing volunteer-based emergency services to the community.
