Paul Gunshol

ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF

Paul Gunshol has been involved in the fire service for 30 years. His fire service career began at the young age of 16 starting to volunteer at OVFC. Chief Gunshol attended firefighter basic followed by EMT-Ambulance EMT-A). He was later hired as a career firefighter with the AACOFD attending recruit class 34. Paul worked for Anne Arundel County Fire Department for 4 years before moving onto the District of Columbia FD attending recruit class 323.

Paul works as the driver of Truck 13, where he has been assigned for nearly all of his 17.5-year career with DCFD. He has taught Recruit Classes for the Training School as well as several In-Service training topics over the last several years. He is also working with the apparatus Division on a saw inventory and maintenance for the entire Department.

Chief Gunshol continued volunteering his time at Odenton serving in various administrative positions, as well as serving as a line officer. As a member of OVFC, he has served in all officer positions from Lieutenant to Chief, where he has served as a Chief for over 3.5 years.

He is certified to Fire Officer IV and holds numerous other national level certifications as well as serving as an Instructor for the University of Maryland Fire Rescue Institute (MFRI). He is currently enrolled in the Fire Management Program at Anne Arundel Community College.

Paul lives with his wife Lisa and has 4 children residing in Millersville, MD.
