The Maryland Fire Chiefs Association (MFCA) established the Hall of Fame Award to recognize the distinguished accomplishments and service of individuals. On October 30, 2021, the MFCA announced the award during a ceremony held at the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department. The inaugural group of 56 recipients of the award included those who previously had been recognized by the MFCA as recipients of the William G. Perry Award, the Chief Leslie B. Thompson Memorial Award, or the Chief John W. Hoglund Fire Service Leadership Award. These 56 individuals were established as Charter Members of the Maryland Fire Chiefs Association Hall of Fame Award.
Wylie L. Donaldson Jr. received the Chief Leslie B. Thompson Memorial Award in 2021. Wylie is a 69-year member of the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company (OVFC). His award nomination recognized his contributions to the advancement of the OVFC as well as his contributions on a county and state fire service level. In recognition of a lifetime of service to his community and as a prior award recipient, Wylie was inducted as a charter member of the MFCA Hall of Fame Award.
David W. Lewis received the Chief John W. Hoglund Fire Service Leadership Award in 2021. David is a 50-year member of the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company. His award nomination recognized his leadership on fire service programs at a local, county, state, and national level. In recognition of a lifetime of service to his community and as a prior award recipient, David was inducted as a charter member of the MFCA Hall of Fame Award.
