OVFC Members Attend Maryland Weekend at the National Fire Academy

Eight members of the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company attended this years “Maryland Weekend” on 2-4 February at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland. The National Fire Academy State Weekend program is an educational opportunity set aside for fire and rescue personnel that offers the opportunity to strengthen the fire service community through education, personal networking and a shared collegial experience. Students are offered the opportunity to grow professionally through a quality educational experience and to increase their knowledge and skills to provide a safe and effective response to their communities. State fire training agencies sponsor the weekends in partnership with the National Fire Academy. The Maryland State Fireman’s Association selects the courses and recruits and the National Fire Academy hosts the weekend and provides the instruction and course materials.

Odenton Volunteer Fire Company Fire and EMS operations are conducted by its members primarily in the Maryland communities of Odenton and Severn.
