Remembering Joseph E. Dooley

Joseph E. Dooley passed away on August 26, 2018, at the age of 75, at his home in Hanover, PA.

Joe served his country proudly in the United States Air Force for 24 years, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. He joined the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company in 1975. During his years of service, he served as Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, and Lieutenant. He was active on the Statistics, Auditing, Maryland Fire Chiefs Convention, Public Relations, Maps, Banquet, and By-laws committees. Joe also participated in many charitable functions with the American Heart Association.

Joe loved spending time with his grandchildren, but he also enjoyed traveling (especially to Ocean City), watching the Orioles and Capitals, and he was an overall “fire buff” (collecting fire memorabilia and attending many parades).

Joe was a Fire Communications Operator for the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. He was hired by the department on June 17, 2004, after his retirement from the United States Air Force. He retired from the department on July 1, 2009.

Odenton Volunteer Fire Company Fire and EMS operations are conducted by its members primarily in the Maryland communities of Odenton and Severn.
