Ray Hodgson joined the fire company in June 1969 at the age of 16. He died on 30 October 2015 with 46-years of service.
Ray served as Captain for 3-years, Lieutenant for 2-years, Assistant Chief for 5-years, and Chief from 2012-2013. He was on countless committees over the years to include Membership, Banquet, Public Fire and Life Safety Education, and Public Information. He was made an Honorary Member of the Ladies Auxiliary in 2005.
Ray served as the company Santa Claus for countless years, a role he truly enjoyed.
He was a career Firefighter III and instructor for the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, retiring on October 1st, 1994 after 22 years of service. During his career, he trained and established the Trench Rescue Team for Anne Arundel County.
He was a member of the Pennsylvania Task Force One with deployment to the World Trade Center on 9/11 as a Rescue Specialist. Ray worked with MFRI as a Field Instructor and a Facilities Manager. He also served in the US Army.
