Sylvia Hammond joined the Ladies Auxiliary in September 1979. She passed away on 29 August 2015 at the age of 80. At the time of her death, she had 36-years of service and was a Life Member.
Sylvia’s son Tim is a Life Member of the fire company and her daughter Sharon Talbert is a Life Member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Her grandson Marty is also a member of the fire company.
Sylvia served as Chaplain for 22-years. She served as Vice Chaplain for 4-years. When her health prevented her from serving as Chaplain in 2015, she served as Vice Chaplain until her death.
She was the Sunshine Chairman and added heart felt words to the cards she sent. This was truly a gift she had. Sylvia helped at the different fundraisers over the years. She could always be counted on for a smile.
Sylvia was also very active in the Nichols Bethel United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was involved in the Clothes Closet.
