The OVFC Stair Climb team has been hard at work training for the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb.
On October 28, several members climbed the equivalent of 110 stories at M&T Stadium to honor the 343 firefighters who were killed on 9/11/2001. In the process, they raised at least $5,400 for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
Many of our stair climbers will be doing the climb in full turnout gear with air packs, the equivalent of wearing a 45 pound weight vest!
The team spent a recent Saturday training (pictured right and below) on the bleachers at Arundel High School, and have been training at the firehouse on our treadmill between calls during their shifts.
Some of the Stair Climb team also did a three-mile walk for breast cancer awareness, in full turnout gear, on October 22 in the lead up to the stair climb.
