We get a lot of work done with axes, but sometimes a chainsaw is a firefighter’s best friend. We use powered saws for forcible entry into locked buildings, extricating patients from cars, and cutting holes in the roofs of burning buildings to allow smoke and heat to escape.
Our Monday night crew brushed up on proper saw maintenance, then headed outside to practice saw operation on some donated wooden pallets.
Odenton Volunteer Fire Company Fire and EMS operations are conducted by its members primarily in the Maryland communities of Odenton and Severn.
